Event Description
Event Language: Japanese

For the third year, the United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies’ Operating Unit Ishikawa/Kanazawa is organizing the Environmental Film Festival in Kanazawa, which aims to enhance the public’s understanding of environmental issues through the power of visual images.

In addition to “Book of Seasons – A Year in Kanazawa”, an observation of the relationship between Kanazawa City’s rich environment and culture through the four seasons, this year’s festival will also include “Guardians of Kaga’s Green Forests”, focusing on the Kaga Forest Association; “From Mountain to Sea – A Vision to Rebuild Tohoku” on the reconstruction efforts after the Great East Japan Earthquake; and “Satoumi”, based on the Convention on Biological Diversity Technical Series Report on the present conditions and conservation activities of coastal areas throughout Japan. The festival will also feature commentaries by the filmmakers and others affiliated with the projects.
