Event Description

UNU-IAS will be co-organizing a two-day workshop on climate co-benefits in Bhopal, India with the School of Planning and Architecture Bhopal, APN, Kyoto University and UNU-ISP. In three sessions, the workshop will cover co-benefits in urban areas, sound material cycle society and co-benefits assessment tools. The first session will discuss issues pertaining to identification of large urban co-benefits or positive impacts for integrating climate change with local sustainable development goals in cities. The second session will look at prevailing reuse and recycling practices which could be considered in establishing a Sound Material Cycle Society. In the last session, experts from UNU-IAS will demonstrate the use of the Co-benefits Assessment Tool – a simulation model designed for evaluating the climate co-benefits of an urban energy system – and participants will use their own city data to generate meaningful results.
